M28 Investigates is an independent, nonprofit newsroom set up by Rwandans investigative journalists that produces investigative journalism with moral force. We dig deep into important issues, shining a light on abuses of power and betrayals of public trust and we stick with those issues as long as it takes to hold power to account. With a team of dedicated journalists, M28 Investigates covers a range of topics including government and politics, business, criminal justice, the environment, education, health care, immigration, and technology. We focus on stories with the potential to spur real impact. We combine Investigative Journalism, press freedom and freedom of expression.

Investigative Journalism Incubator
We nurture independent journalism by offering training, mentorship, and financial grants for in-depth investigative projects. By partnering with media organizations, we facilitate the publication of cross-border investigative reports that expose corruption, human rights violations, and abuses of power. Our workshops focus on critical skills such as Open-Source Intelligence (OSINT), financial investigations, and data journalism, empowering journalists to conduct high-impact reporting
Advocacy & Policy Influence
We actively document and expose press freedom violations across Sub-Saharan Africa, bringing global attention to the challenges faced by journalists. We advocate for accountability and justice for media suppression. Additionally, we push for stronger legal protections for journalists through policy recommendations and strategic litigation, ensuring long-term systemic change in press freedom laws.
